Below is the ‌ Installation procedures for the ABB NINT-68 I/O module‌:

Hardware Installation

  1. Preparation

    • Turn off the host controller power and verify zero voltage at terminals using a multimeter.
    • Ground yourself using an ESD wrist strap connected to chassis metal.
  2. Slot Alignment

    • Slide the module into any free slot in the ABB S800 I/O rack (compatible with slots 4–15).
    • Engage the module’s bottom connector with the backplane socket at a 30° angle.
    • Push downward firmly until the locking lever clicks into place.
  3. Mechanical Securing

    • Fasten the module’s top/bottom screws to the rack rail (torque: 0.6 N·m).


Wiring Connections

  1. Terminal Block (X1/X2)

    • Connect field devices to screw terminals as follows:
      • Ch 1–4‌: Analog inputs (0–10V / 4–20mA)
      • Ch 5–8‌: Digital outputs (24VDC sink, max 0.5A)
    • Use shielded twisted-pair cables for analog signals.
  2. Power & Grounding

    • Supply ‌24VDC ±5%‌ to ‌TB3 (PWR IN)‌ pins 1(+) and 2(–).
    • Bond shield drains to the chassis ground stud (≤10Ω impedance).

RUN Green steady Module operational
COM ERR Red flashing Backplane communication fault
CHx ACT Yellow flicker Channel activity

️ ‌Critical Safety Notes

  • POWER MUST BE OFF‌ before insertion/removal to prevent backplane damage.
  • ESD PRECAUTIONS‌: Handle modules only by edges; avoid contact with connectors.
  • AMBIENT LIMITS‌: Operate within –25°C to +70°C; humidity <95% non-condensing.


Configuration & Diagnostics

  1. Software Setup
    • In ABB Automation Builder:

      Project Tree → Hardware → S800 I/O → Add "NINT-68"
      Assign module address (e.g., SW1: 01000001)
  2. Calibration
    • Trim analog zero/gain via potentiometers (accessible after front cover removal).
